Under the motto “Innovations for Sustainable Infrastructures – in Space and on Earth”, the 6th round of the innovation competition was opened at the INNOspace Masters Conference on 14 October 2020. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this event was held online for the first time.
The conference was packed with interviews and inspiring keynotes, among others from Dr Walther Pelzer (DLR Space Administration), Matthias Petschke (European Commission) and Dr Ing. Heba Aguib (BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt). These talks delivered insights into how space technology benefits sustainable infrastructure in various sectors as well as ways to make space infrastructures more efficient and resource-saving – and where further innovations are still needed.
From 30 October 2020 to 12 February 2021, project ideas from a wide variety of areas such as digital sustainability, resource-saving approaches, materials, mobility, 5G connectivity, commercialisation of space and cost reduction were submitted to the five competition challenges: DLR Space Administration, ESA Business Incubation Centres, Airbus, OHB and DB Netz.
The winners of each challenge as well as the overall winner of the INNOspae Masters will be presented during the Conference and Award Ceremony on 24 June 2021.
